I tried to "bend" a loblolly pine tree in my yard. I hoped it would look like a bigger version of a bonsai. I tied wire to its branches and staked the other end in the ground. The tree was strong- already 6 or 7 feet tall, and it was really hard to pull down. I left it afterwards and when I went back it had broken free. I think I would start with a smaller one next time. I always love to see the bonsai garden at Birmingham Botanical Garden. Small, caged, mesmerizing little old trees!
